The oppression of women is a phenomenon that exists.
Public attention is paid to extreme cases, but its reach extends far beyond that which the media reports.
Incidences of verbal, mental and sexual abuse, humiliation, blackmail, sexual harassment and discrimination, societal prohibitions and pressures are rampant, and for too many women, are part of their daily life.
In many cultures these are acceptable norms of behavior.
In the grey areas of life at home and places of work, this phenomenon occurs without intervention or treatment, despite the deep scars that abuse leaves on its victims. |

The series HUMAN TROPHY touches on these domains.
I chose to present women like hunters hang up their trophies.
The wall paper that appears on the heads as well as on the background emphasizes the cheap use of, and disrespectful attitude towards women.
The portraits seem to belong to the women we see around us- the one next door, the friend, the secretary in the office etc., real women of life.
Some are expressive but many still contain it all inside.
Until when?
